I have been drawing since I was 3 years old, painting at age 10. I always knew I
wanted to be an artist, even at an early age. I have always been drawn to
patterns, shapes, textures and their rhythmic movements in a painting, as if they
have a life of their own. I am drawn to things that impart history; a cut glass bowl
belonging to my grandmother, a well loved tea cup with a small chip on the rim, a
fine piece of lace, various collections of knick-knacks – all mementos from a
forgotten period. Everything I paint has a special, personal meaning for me. The
objects within the piece are carefully chosen and arranged. I also strive to
capture a slice of time, a passing of a day – especially of children, to preserve
that special moment that will be lost all too soon. I have always held the belief that
if you paint often, paint what you are passionate about, paint what you love, it will
shine throughout your work every time.
